Joseph enlisted in the Union service a few days after his brothers, John and William, in July 1862. They were mustered into service at Camp Butler and their first engagement was at Frankllin, Tenn. He was a farmer, and was living but retired at the time the Portrait & Biological record of Christian Co., Ill, was written.
Land Grant: Illinois Government Land Grant. Joseph B Gore received a grant of 160 acres on 8/17/1849 from a federal sale in Shelby Co., Illinois, sect. 7, section SE, township 13N, range 2E, meridian 3, arch. vol. no. 154, vol. page no. 030.
