SNODGRASS, JAMES. The place of his birth is not known, but he was married in Cocke county, Tenn., to Elizabeth Snodgrass. They had eleven children in Tennessee, and moved to Sangamon county, Ill., arriving about 1820, in what is now Cotton Hill township. Of their children -- (listed)
James was appointed Ensign on 8 July 1800 in Cocke County, Tennessee. [E-mail from Jim Snodgrass <snoj@webb.pvt.k12.tn.us> Nov 1995]
Hints on Origins: Jim Snodgrass says they don't seem to be connected to the Snodgrasses of Washington Co., Virginia, but may be connected to the Snodgrasses of Botetourt Co., Virginia.
