History of Sangamon Co., Illinois, pg. 671, says this of him: James [Snodgrass] Jun., born in Cocke county, Tennesse, about 1785, married there to Mary Martin. They had two children in Tennesee, and moved to Madison county, Ill., where on child was born and from there to Sangamon county, arriving in 1820 in what is now Cotton Hill township, where three children were born.
