John Bancroft

Thje following is quoted from [http://www.bankert.org/genealogy-reports/newengland/ancec010.htm#subj530]: John Bancroft sold his holdings in Swarkeston in preparation for emigration to New England but died in 1635 before he could make the trip. His widow, Anne, came to New England, possibly with Nathaniel Sowther who was a witness to John's will and overseer of his estate. She moved with her family from Massachusetts to Southampton, Long Island. Her children, John, Thomas, and Anna, later moved to the Connecticut Valley. John's younger brother, Thomas, a poet and author in England, wrote of his brother: You sold your land the lighter hence to go To foreign coasts, yet (Fate would have it so) Did ne'er New England reach. but went with them That journey toward New Jerusalem.
