!Obituary: Hubbard Enterprise, August 5, 1921, page 1: DEATH OF MRS. H.C. REED
Sunday morning July 31, about six o'clock, Mrs. H. C. Reed passed to her reward at the family home on the William Wolfer place south of town. Mrs. Reed and family came to hubbard in June, 1920, mostly with the hope of benefitting Mrs. Reed's health, the past four years having been a sufferer from diabetes. Soon after coming to Oregon improvement was steady and the improvement continued until a short time before her death. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, of which deceased was a member, friends having beautifully decorated the altar rail previously. Rev. Wm. Nicholl, her pastor, conducted the service.
Interment in the Hubbard cemetery. Hubbard citizens appreciated the family's loss in saying goodbye to mother and companion so soon after coming to the community and their neighbors tried to do their part.
Prior to Mr. Reed's moving to the valley from the old home in Minnesota, he purchased a part of the Goudy tract and had leased the near by Wm. Wolfer farm until their own home was ready and it was here Mrs. Reed passed on.
