Other possible connections: (Currently no connection known).
There is a Rev. War Pension (abstract) for the following, who may be a close family connection.
On the 29 Mar 1808 will of Jonathan Peirson of Maidenhead Twp., Hunterdon Co., New Jersey, he names his nephew Jeremiah Reed executor. Proved 6 Jan 1810. [Archives of NJ, First Series, Vol. XII, 1949, pg. 291]. From Mary Ann Unger, personal communication: This Jeremiah was born in Hunterdon Co, NJ March 1777, the illegitimate son of Melicent Peirson (Jonathan's sister) and Azariah Reed. As you might imagine, it was the subject of several lawsuits. Azariah was the grandson of William Reed who left Newtown, Long Island to settle in Maidenhead, NJ (now Ewing Twp, Mercer County) in 1701. He followed several Reed cousins into what was then Hunterdon County in the early 1700s. This Reed line starts with a carpenter named Thomas Reed, first seen in 1647 in Milford, CT and by 1650 in Long Island, where he died about 1665 with issue Mary (m. Samuel Moore), Joseph, John, and Sarah. All data point to Joseph being the father of William. Since the progenitor of the line is first found in records in the 1640s when there was no monarchy and thus no reason for ship's passenger records (no oaths of allegiance), his date of emigration and place of origin are not known.
Amos C. Reed, NJ Line, R8657. Sol. appl 25 Apr 1818 Perry Co., Ohio. On 20 July 1820 sol. had moved to Belmont Co., OH, age 83. Son John (age 63 on 25 Sep 1844 in Belmont Co) said parents married in July 1780 in Bucks Co., PA, mother's maiden name was Gemima Kennard. Sol. d. 7 Jan 1834 in Belmont Co., OH. Widow died 12 Feb 1840 Belmont Co.. Leaving Children: John b. 25 Sep 1781, James Wilkinson, Gemima Pryor, and Rachel Vance.
In ["Solders Burials, Belmont Co., Ohio, Rev. War & War of 1812" in "Ohio: The Cross Road of our Nation -- Records & Pioneer Families", Vol. 3, No. 2, April-June 1962, p.85], is shown: "Amos Reed, Rev. War, d. 1834" (cemetery & twp not stated).
No Amos Reed appears in the 1800 census of Pennsylvania. An "Amos Read" appears on a Aug 1793 Tax List of Woolwich Twp., Gloucester Co., New Jersey, pg. 18. [Not clear that this is him -- note he was in Bucks Co., Pa in 1780]
Other miscellany: ["Muskingham Co., OH Wills & Administrations, Book B", in [ibid, Vol. 4, #3, July-Sep 1963, pg.106], the will of David Campbell, probated 1814, mentions "money from Jane Reed of Penna" (David also had a dau. Jane, but no indication that these are not two different people). Just noted for future reference.
