Notes

Hanneman's 1993 geenalogy of the Ruddick Family places her family and her birthplace in Hawkins Co., in eastern Tennessee, a few years before the formation of the state of Tennessee, so her birthplace would have still been a part of North Carolina at her time of birth. Her maiden name is claimed to be Reddick in the Neal family history, with birthplace North Carolina. However, her daughter, Mahala (Parker) Neal claimed in both the 1880 and 1900 censuses that her parents were born in Kentucky.
