The Register of the parish of Billingshurst in Sussex Co., England, records: 1. Marriage 3 Oct 1648 of Edward Buckman & Joan (last name read as possibly Bagham). 2. Baptism of 2 sons of Edward & Joan: Edward (7 Nov 1651) and Thomas (5 Nov 1654). 3. Four earlier records that cannot yet be connected with certainty: i. Dec 1584 Thomas Buckman m. (indecipherable) ii. 28 May 1638 William Buckman m. Elizabeth (indecipherable) iii. 16 Oct 1639 Richard Greenfield m. Eliabeth Buckman iv. 2 Feb 1641/2 Susan Buckman, daughter of (indecipherable) 4. No buckmans appear in these records again until the second half of the nineteenth century. The Quarterly Meeting of Sussex and Surrey, Shipley meeting, shows births of three daughters: Mary (b. 7 7th mo 1656), Ruth (b. 4 Feb 1659/60), and Sarah (b. 16 9th mo. 1669). Quaker records show the death of Edward Buckman on 13 5th mo 1670 and his burial at Chiltington on the 15th (2 days later).
