Notes
King of England 1100-1135.
On William II's death (his brother), he was crowned king (1100). His elder brother Robert, duke of Normakdy, claimed his throne, but Henry defeated him and captured all his lands at Tinchebrai (1106). Henry married an Englishwoman and reformed the judicial and fiscal administration, but his reign was troubled by unruly barons, wars with the French and Welsh, and the death (1120) of his heir William.
