Notes

Will dated 27 Mar 1574, probated 2 Feb 1576. After Thomas Wentworth of "Scrowbie Manor" died, then William Brewster Sr. took over the tenancy of the historic Manor. Sir Thomas Wentworth, Earl of Stafford, was a descendant (prob. grandchild or great grandchild). He was a loyal servant of King Charles I, who had many disagreements with Parliament. An attempt was made to impeach Sir Thomas, but after he eloquently defended himself, those proceedings were dropped. However, in order to appease Parliament (and trade for other agreements), Charles I signed his death warrent, and he was beheaded. Again, note that this is in reference to the descendant.
